WHEN the weather changes, it can often mean splashing out.

The UK has seen all types of weather recently, and April usually means frequent showers.

Here’s how to be ready, whatever the weather – and whatever your budget . . .

STAY PROTECTED: Everyone needs an umbrella but why not get one for less while supporting a good cause? At the poppyshop.org.uk, their pretty umbrellas are reduced from £14.99 to £5.99. Meanwhile, Primark have a tiny foldable umbrella for £3.50 which would fit in any bag.

WRAP UP: Mid-season sales have kicked in, so take advantage at Hollisterco.com and bag an all-weather wind and water-resistant jacket reduced from £89 to £34.99, a saving of £54. If you want a big name for less, Thenorthface.co.uk also has 50 per cent off the women’s Sheru jacket, which was £90, now £45. Walking enthusiasts could pick up the hiking rain poncho from Decathlon for £5.99.

GO ALL OUT: For little ones, kitting them out head-to-toe is the way to keep them dry. Lindex.com have adorable kids’ rain galoshes and dinosaur-printed waterproof tops from £24.99.

Joules have a recycled puddle-proof, suit, was £29.95, now £15.95 and there’s one at mountainwarehouse.com for £14.99 down from £29.99.

For smaller feet, H&M have kids’ wellies from £8 in the sale.

PUSH ON: Buggy accessories can be expensive but the universal buggy rain cover from the Anyday collection at John Lewis is £15. Amazon.co.uk have a few reduced to £11.75, but these tend to be buggy brand-specific.

DISH UP A MUD PIE: There’s nothing like a mud kitchen to bring joy to kids’ faces. Wilko’s mud kitchen is the cheapest full-price one at £55, but get a third off the Chad Valley mud kitchen at Argos, now £40.
