Based on Freshwater West Beach in Pembrokeshire, Café Môr is easy enough to spot, describing itself as a “solar-powered-mobile-converted-fishing-boat-seaweed-kitchen.” For more than a decade, the portable food stop has been serving customers its seafood alternatives lobster and crab rolls plus the classic fish butty.

Owner Jonathan Williams first got the idea to set up his food business back in 2010, after yearning for a career by the sea, away from Swindon.

He set up the van and went part-time with his office job while serving at several festivals across the country.

Jonathan’s gamble paid off, with his fish dishes becoming a hit, winning the ‘Best of the Best’ at The British Street Food Awards in 2011.

He was also invited to represent Wales in Japan in 2016 to cook their famous lobster rolls in Welsh Sea Black Butter.

Fan’s have also expressed their love for Café Môr, including 2Chill member Lydia Stephens praising the alternative burger van, calling it: “Real artisan style food that tastes great and in an absolutely fantastic location at Freshwater West Beach.”

She added: “Café Môr is an absolutely amazing burger van off the coast in West Wales. Not like your typical burger van, they offer lobster and crab burgers.”

To add to the seafood quick-eats unique charm, it is also only one of two mobile food outlets in the UK (both from Pembrokeshire) to power their kitchens using solar.

Jonathon’s cooking skills have garnered some media attention, he has appeared on several TV shows including Countryfile, Escape to the Country, Kate Humble’s Back to the Land and even cooked alongside James Martin.

Now permanently residing on Freshwater West throughout the summer months, Café Môr is going from strength to strength.

Customers are advised to arrive early to avoid missing out on sampling a piece of crab or lobster, with breakfast rolls and burgers also on the menu.
