In the mood for a romantic meal with your loved one this Valentine’s Day?
OpenTable has unveiled the top 50 most romantic restaurants in the UK, just in time for the international celebration of love.
The list is based on more than 1million verified OpenTable dinner restaurant reviews collected across 2021.
Covering a wide range of cuisines from Argentinian restaurant LA Boca in Yorkshire to European restaurant Mere in London, there is something here for every couple’s taste.
British food continues to be the most highly represented cuisine with 26% of the share. Its nearest competition is modern European at 16%.
Italian, French and steakhouses claim 6% each in the list and are more popular in certain regions.
Couples in Newcastle & Northumberland, and Yorkshire are in luck if they are searching for romance and good food. Of the top 50 haunts, 10 are found in the two regions.
Newcastle residents prefer British and French cuisine, whilst those living in Yorkshire enjoy South American with Favela Brazilian Grill and LA Boca being on the list, along with the beloved gastropub, Shibden Mill Inn.
Sasha Shaker, District Director, EMEA, OpenTable said of the findings: ‘Our most romantic list continues to highlight the fantastic options across the UK to celebrate this Valentine’s Day with your loved ones, helping those diners still looking for that perfect romantic experience to discover and book the right restaurant.
‘The 2022 list highlights just how much diners have appreciated their local venues over the past year, with more diverse UK locations than ever featuring. Whilst British cuisine continues to champion as our diners’ favourite, we are also starting to see a diversification here with South American cuisine landing amongst this year’s favourites.’
