Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson regularly posts updates from his home gym showing off his epic workouts and sharing his advice for staying motivated while pursuing your fitness goals. And perhaps unsurprisingly given the results he achieves, he also knows a thing or two about supporting your progress through nutrition.

As the training in his months-long preparation for DC’s Black Adam amps up even further in intensity as the production date draws near, Johnson has just dropped the recipe for the protein shake he likes to neck after a session in the Iron Paradise before his post-workout meal.

“I’ve been training for Black Adam for months and months and months now,” Johnson says in the video. “We’re almost at the goal line, it’s almost game time, as we start shooting in April, so we’re really dialling it in in terms of the diet and the conditioning.”

Johnson’s food-related Instagram posts usually revolve around his jaw-dropping cheat day meals, but in the caption here, he reiterates the importance of replenishing your body’s fuel as fast as possible in order to maximize your recovery.

“Don’t overlook the importance of getting in your protein/carb/sugar immediately after your workout,” he writes. “It’s that critical time where your muscles will optimally absorb these nutrients after you’ve torn the muscles down from your workout.”
