Christmas turkeys, both fresh and frozen, have seen a steep price increase again this year.

According to data by The Grocer and analysts Assosia, price hikes of at least 10 percent were seen across 13 of the 21 frozen whole, and crown lines on sale last month in the traditional “big four” supermarkets.

Budget retailer Aldi saw the biggest jump with its Specially Selected turkey crown (1.8kg) which now costs £24.99, up from £19.99 in 2022.

A small Oakhurst whole British turkey (4kg), also sold by Aldi took second place with the most inflated price. It’s 17.7 percent more expensive than a year ago.

However, it’s not all bad news as the budget retailer still remains the cheapest for this festive essential when comparing prices.
