Mike Tindall is a former English rugby union player who married into the Royal Family in 2011 to Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Phillips. Zara and Mike began dating in 2003 after meeting during the Rugby World Cup in Australia and married eight years later at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh. Mike used lockdown in 2020 to his advantage by baking up a storm and sharing the results on social media.
The former rugby player, aged 43, showcased his baking skills as he shared a photo of his delicious looking “world-famous” brownies on Instagram last year.
Mike posted a handwritten guide to making the sweet treats using the Wizards Magic chocolate bars as well as mouth-watering photos of the brownies after baking them.
Mike wrote: “So I decided to make my world-famous brownies (my words!!) but I tried to get rid of all the sugar.
“I used @thewizardsmagic and I have to say it was a success!!!
“Also they are gluten-free!
“So sugar-free and gluten-free coming to a store near you soon, sounds good though!!”
Ingredients
185g of dark chocolate
85g of plain flour
40g of cocoa
Three eggs
275g of caster sugar
50g of white chocolate (or, as Mike wrote next to this: “sea salt chopped into chunks!”)
One Instagram follower, @mary_1264 asked Mike if he was “taking orders,” while another asked him for the full method for his recipe.
Instagram user @sandyfeet38 wrote “Somehow I did not think you could surprise me… but you did.
“YOU BAKE!”
Another, @roycox150 added: “Well baked Tinds.
“If they taste as good as they look they’ll be a winner mate.
“Next stop British Bake Off!”
No doubt, Mike and Zara’s daughters Mia, seven, three-year-old Lena, and baby Lucas will appreciate Mike’s “world-famous” cooking skills.
The sports star often shares snaps from his home life at the couple’s shared home on the Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, owned by Zara’s mother Princess Anne.
Peter Phillips and his former wife Autumn also live on the estate with their children, Savannah and Isla.
Zara Tindall previously told the Sunday Times Magazine her morning begins at 7am with Greek yoghurt and honey, which she eats before using the exercise bike at her home on the Gatcombe Park estate.
“Lunch is quick and simple, like soup and a sandwich or eggs and toast. I don’t diet but I try to eat well and not to eat too many carbohydrates or sugary things,” Zara continued.
Zara’s husband also revealed his top takeaway choice, telling The Guardian back in 2007: “If Zara is away competing I’ll have my only takeaway of the week.
“It would definitely be a Chinese – it might be a banquet for two but obviously that would just be for me. I can do that fairly easily.”
Zara has been pictured snacking on pizza and ice creams with her daughter Mia while attending the Gatcombe Horse Trials, so the mum-of-three may occasionally indulge in a tasty takeaway once in a while.
