Those who have been shopping in Waitrose have been asked to check for chocolate and cheese products. This is the full list of affected products.
Waitrose NO1 Dominican Republic Milk Chocolate 49 percent 100g
The chocolate product has been recalled by Waitrose & Partners as it contains nuts and soya not listed on the label.
This could cause a health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to those items.
A Waitrose statement said: “Waitrose is recalling the above product as it has been packed with the incorrect product which contains almonds, hazelnut and soya which is not declared on the label.
“Do not consume if you have an allergy to almond, hazelnut or soya. Package up item [and] return the product to your local Waitrose & Partners branch for a refund.”
The affected packs have the batch code 0259 and Best Before date of November 2021.
The retailer instructed those who have purchased the product with an allergy not to consume it.
Instead, the chocolate pack can be returned to stores, or shoppers can contact Waitrose customer care on 0800 188 884, Option 4.
The retailer added: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Waitrose Duchy Organic Cypriot Halloumi 225g
The cheese item has been recalled as it contains milk which is not listed clearly in English on the packaging.
This could cause a serious health risk to those with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constitutes.
Anyone who has bought the product is encouraged to return it to stores where they will be given a full refund.
The Food Standards Agency website states: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents do not eat it.
“Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
Shoppers can also contact customers services on the same number with any queries.
The affected pack has the best before date of May 31, 2021 and the batch code BIO B0530A-3 CY0063.
No other Waitrose products are known to be affected by the recall.
Food recalls are not often issued but should be taken seriously by those who have visited stores.
When a possible risk is spotted with an item, it can be recalled by supermarkets, or withdrawn and taken off shelves.
