A food recall warning has been released for an item sold in Asda stores. The product does not declare allergens in English which could pose a health risk for some customers.
Food recalls are not often issued but should be taken seriously by those with food allergies or intolerances.
Asda has shared an update on a yogurt product sold in stores.
The supermarket giant has recalled Yoplait YOP Strawberry Flavour yogurt drink.
The warning was shared as the ingredients were not listed in English, meaning some allergens were not clear.
A statement from Asda said: “General Mills UK is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of YOP STRAWBERRY 6 x 500g with Best Before date 6th Feb 2021.
“The recall is being carried out due to the incorrect language appearing on the pack, meaning that the allergens are not correctly declared in English.
“There is no food safety risk associated with this batch of product.”
Those who have bought the affected packs and have an allergy or intolerance have been urged to check the batch code and best before date.
The affected packs have the barcode 332977001449 and the best before date of February 6, 2021.
Products with any other date codes are not known to be affected, the statement continued.
Those who have purchased the product and have an intolerance can return the item to stores where they will receive a refund.
The statement said: “If you have purchased Yoplait YOP Strawberry 6 x 500g with a date code of 6th Feb 2021, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and if you would like any further information please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0800 952 0101.”
Asda recently issued a food warning on a number of chilled and frozen seafood products.
The affected items were recalled as they had possibly been contaminated with salmonella.
The Food Standards Agency website stated: “Several retailers listed below are recalling several chilled and frozen seafood products because they might be contaminated with salmonella.
“Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.”
