Once the neglected ingredient of the dairy world, cottage cheese is now amassing newfound popularity on TikTok.
In fact, people can’t get enough of the curdled milk product at the moment and are using it in unlikely places – from ice cream to pasta sauce – with the tag ‘cottage cheese recipes’ now garnering more than 26.3 million views on the platform.
So it seems we are firmly in our cottage cheese era.
But one of the biggest recipes trending right now is cottage cheese cookie dough.
While it might not sound the most appetising, chef and New York Times bestselling author Jake Cohen says it’s well worth your time.
The chef admits that while he was ‘honestly ashamed’ to share his recipe at first, he’s now ‘kind of obsessed’ with it.
It also only requires a handful of ingredients and is packed full of protein. What’s more, it can be whipped up in just minutes – making it perfect for snacking.

While traditionalists might have an issue with Jake’s unconventional recipe, he stresses there’s still a place for his creation.
‘It’s not cookie dough,’ Jake previously told Good Morning America.
‘But as someone constantly trying to get more protein, it’s the perfect sweet snack to scratch that itch.’
