There’s no better way to start the day than by biting into a buttery, flaky croissant.

It’s a breakfast staple and the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

With this in mind, pastry lovers will be thrilled to hear about a brand new opening in London’s Soho.

A café solely dedicated to croissants is opening later this month, on the former site of HipChips on Old Compton Street.

Criss Cross will boast a selection of sweet and savoury treats – so there’s something for everyone.

Sweet croissants will include strawberry gel and vanilla cream, yuzu curd with black sesame praline and pecan frangipane with vanilla cream.

While the savoury options are set to be whisky and soy cured salmon with cashew cream and seaweed as well as four cheese and black truffle.

To celebrate the launch, Criss Cross will be giving away 100 free croissants on opening day – although an exact date is yet to be announced.

Currently, it’s expected to be around mid-September. So foodies will have to keep a close eye on the café’s Instagram for any developments on this.

The new concept is being headed-up by chef Roberto Guzzi – who also does patisserie at Novikov in Mayfair – and creative director Boris Kofman of Mnky Hse, Dover Street’s Latin American bar and restaurant. But it’s worth stressing that this is an independent venture from the pair.

Elsewhere in the world of food, you can get paid to feast on roast potatoes, as a company is looking to hire a Sunday lunch tester.

Likewise, people are saying we’ve been eating burgers wrong all this time. We should, in fact, be flipping the buns over and eating them upside down.

Also if you’re looking for more fun days out in the capital, a new interactive go karting experience opens soon – which is essentially a real-life version of Mario Kart.
