TACKLING a pile of dirty dishes can be a rewarding task.

But before you start scrubbing, you want to make sure the dish sponge you are using is actually in good condition.

A new video pointed out that our dish sponges often become loaded with bacteria after repeated use.

But there's a way to disinfect them that will ensure cleanliness.

CNN Underscored is an account that posts product reviews, cleaning tips, and life hacks.

In their video, captioned “This is YOUR sign to clean your sponge,” they claimed that all you have to do is wet your sponge, put it on a clean plate, and microwave it for one to two minutes on high.

A second option, you can also put the sponge in the dishwasher on the heated dry setting. The heat will kill the bacteria.

“And to prevent bacteria from growing as quickly, you should always ring it out after washing dishes,” the video concludes.

In another TikTok, CNN underscored offered a tip on how to clean your AirPods.

Given that many of us wear our AirPods daily, it’s important to look out for any bacteria collection to prevent an infection.

To clean them you need two products: a Q-tip and isopropyl alcohol.

Dip the Q-tip in the solution, and then brush it onto the dirt inside the AirPods case until it comes off.

When going into the case’s holes, use a dry Q-tip instead.

“Then for the actual AirPods, scrub around the speakers so you don’t damage them,” the voice added.

And voila: your AirPods will look as good as new.
