A YOUNG woman has revealed that she has a unique name and she is really insecure about it.
Opening up about her situation, the woman took to community sharing platform Reddit, to reveal that she doesn’t like her name.
She explained that people often tell her that her name – Garnet – is ugly, leading her to question if it is indeed an unattractive name or not.
She asked: “Is my name ugly?”
The Reddit user explained: “I’ve been told all the time that my name (Garnet) is ugly.
“It’s really uncommon and doesn’t sound like a name and it makes me feel insecure.”

She later noted: “I’m a girl btw.”
Reddit users were quick to flood the comments and share their support for the young woman.

“It's uncommon, sure, but I wouldn't say it was ugly.

Another added: “Garnet is a beautiful name.
“It is the gem stone for month of January. Garnets are usually thought of as red but actually can be a variety of colours.
“Try not to listen to other people's negativity. But if you need a positive reminder of your name, I'd recommend getting a piece of garnet jewellery.
“Find a garnet ring, bracelet, necklace, pin or earrings that you like.
“Next time anyone asks about your name, tell them you were named for the precious gemstone and show them how pretty it is.”
A third commented: “This is one of the coolest names I think I’ve ever heard! Definitely not ugly! Really pretty actually.”
Someone else noted: “I don't think it's ugly, but it falls in the camp with blunter-sounding names that aren't as popular as they used to be for girls (Greta comes to mind).
“If you don't like it, Gem or Gemma would be a cute nickname that plays on the original!
