IF you're looking to decorate your home but not sure what trends to follow, then you may want to listen up.

Interior design guru Bilal Rehman has revealed the worst mistakes people can make when it comes to home makeovers.


So, are you guilty of any of them?

In a clip shared to TikTok, he begins: "The worst interior design mistakes I better not catch you doing."

First up on the list is being "too literal" when designing around a theme.

"I love a beach theme as much as the next person but I don't want to come to your home and wipe my a*** with a seashell," he says.

Bilal continues: "Design with the essence of your theme aka pattern, colour and texture."

Next, he warns people not to buy all of their furniture at one store.

"There should never be a one stop shop when it comes to your space," he explains.

"Your space needs to feel collected and curated – it better be a reflection of your personality – one stop shop equals one stop to boring town!

Finally, the interior design whizz also urges people to avoid bouclé .
"Bouclé looks like that stuff you put on your roof to scare the birds away," he says.

"Avoid that and pick literally anything else.

"With all of that bacteria she holds, I wouldn't be surprised if you got a yest infection just from sitting on the sofa."

The post has since racked up a staggering 40k views and several comments – with very mixed opinions.

"Here for the bouclé hate," wrote one.

A second penned: "I had to make mine look more literal at uni days because my prof would GRILL me about the execution of the design concept."

A third commented: "I have 3 pieces from the same range for my living room and a different 3 for our bedroom."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Been telling my parents about the second mistake and they still think of buying sets."
