TRANSFORMING your house usually takes a lot of time and effort, especially if you want to make it look posh on a budget.

But that's exactly what one DIY whizz did with her ex council house, now it looks completely unrecognisable and is her dream home.

Mum-of-two Jade, who shared her home transformation on her Instagram @home_on_the_commons, knew that it would be a long process to make her house look exactly how she wanted it to.

She explained: "Although the house was tiny, downstairs was just two rooms, it had a big garden so we saw it's potential.

"Plus we knew we could never afford the house we wanted in the right area."

Jade and her husband scrimped and saved for five years and even re-mortgaged their house so that they had £50k to do the work they wanted to, including adding an extension on to the back of the house.

However things weren't plain sailing, covid brought everything to a halt, and they even found a wasps nesting in all the exposed walls.

Not only that but Jade was working from home and trying to parent her three-year-old while the construction was going on.

She even fell pregnant and gave birth during the renovation process, which slowed things down even more.

She explained: "We only had enough in the pot to pay for the main building work so every weekend for wat felt like forever we would be doing as much as we could ourselves to save money."

All of that didn't stop Jade from creating her dream home though, by taking things slowly she was able to hunt down bargains that would fit perfectly in the space.

This included nabbing her dream fireplace second hand on eBay and even attempting to design the kitchen herself.

All the work was worth it in the end though and the home now looks so posh.

The small kitchen was transformed to a spacious, bright open-plan area with an island and large patio doors.

The large garden has space for the kids to play but also room for the adults to relax.

Jade said: "You don't need a huge house and lots of money to create your dream home, just a vision, hard work to maybe be a little bit crazy."
