IF noughties rom-coms are anything to go by, then the gym is the perfect place to meet new romantic interests.

But in reality, we don't always fancy striking up conversation with strangers when we're a sweaty, red-faced mess.

One person who knows a little something about this is Avrey Ovard.

Earlier this month, the 19-year-old model, from Utah, was filming a TikTok video of herself stretching at the gym when she was interrupted by a man.

The exchange started out innocently enough – with the 40-something-year-old just asking if she was recording.

Five minutes later, the anonymous man walks out of the physiotherapy room and asks Avrey her name.

Out of politeness, the model told him without thinking and then tries to shut down the conversation by returning to her phone.

However, he then proceeds to tell the teen all about his torn ligaments which require physiotherapy sessions.

Ignoring her silence, the man then says: "When I'm able to get out, toy might not be here.

"I wanted to get your number for dinner."

She then replies: "Oh I'm sorry, I'm too young for you."

In response, the man says: "Oh yeah? Well I'm too rich."

The clip ends you Avery laughing awkwardly as he storms off before looking up to her phone in absolute shock.

Needless to say, the viral video stirred up quite a strong reaction from viewers.

One asked: "Why can men not handle rejection?"

Another added: "'I actually like the way you said I'm too young instead of I have a BF.

"I don't know, it might steer him away from young people hopefully."

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I'm too young was the perfect response."
