WELCOME to my Saturday Shop column. Today we’re talking about what to wear at an airport.

If you’re lucky enough to be flying off somewhere hot, then dressing comfortably for the plane is an absolute must.

After all, travelling is stressful enough without having to worry about restrictive waistbands, itchy fabric, and footwear that takes forever to remove when you’re going through security.

I am a legend among my friends for packing light, and part of my streamlined style is to dress for ease at the airport too.

My first essential is a pair of sandals that effortlessly slip on and off, not least on the flight when your feet can swell. This pair, from Schuh, are raffia style, comfy and go with anything.

A long skirt is good for travel, but you can’t beat a pair of cotton trousers that give your body room to breathe and expand. This ‘rustic wide-legged’ pair are wonderfully light to wear, have handy pockets and, whilst not elasticated, the waistband is loose.

On top, a good quality white cotton shirt looks smart but, again, is light and airy to wear both in stuffy cabins and when you disembark into the sunshine.

And if the in-flight aircon is put on full blast, I always have a handy cashmere cardie tied around my waist. This one is M&S, is great quality and looks as good as new five years after I bought it. They still sell them and it’s an investment.

Happy travels everyone.
