Ryan Reynolds has previously been on the press train for his new Apple TV+ holiday film Spirited starring Will Ferrell. In one of his interviews published over the weekend with Big Issue, Reynolds revealed that he has actually tried to make a Christmas film with his signature character Deadpool.
When discussing the future of Deadpool and what audiences can hope to see down the line, Reynolds explained, “I would love to see a song-and-dance number in a Deadpool movie. Four years ago, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and I wrote a Christmas movie starring Deadpool. But it got lost in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox and it never got made.” He continued, “Maybe one day we’ll get to make that movie. It’s not a musical, but it’s a full Deadpool Christmas movie. So one day.”
While the film might not be coming out just yet, it looks like Reynolds is open to giving his beloved character a Christmas spin. This would not be the first time Reynolds brought Deadpool to Christmas. In 2018, he released a holiday-centric PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 featuring a renewed title, Once Upon a Deadpool.
It remains to be seen if this Christmas Deadpool film will make its way to production in the coming years.
