The temperature rose in the Celebrity Great British Bake Off tent after Paddy McGuiness used some colourful language during a baking disaster.

Signing up to take part in the special charity series, the actor, comedian and TV presenter is one of the 16 famous faces appearing this season.

Among them have been former Friends star David Schwimmer, The Only Way is Essex’s Gemma Collins and Olympic diver Tom Daley.

The finale episode, which will air this weekend, sees Paddy, 49, competing against Joe Thomas, Coleen Nolan and Ellie Taylor.

However, a preview for the episode has shown that things don’t quite go to plan for Paddy, who drops some colourful language when things literally start falling apart.

It all kicks off when Loose Women panellist Coleen, 58, points out there might be a problem.

‘What the hell is that?’ she exclaimed as the cracks in his cake started to show.

He wasn’t too impressed by her observation and responded: ‘That’ nice isn’t it? That’s encouraging. “What the hell is that?”,’ before going in to have a closer look at his gingerbread that was baking in the oven.

Swearing when he notices he’s got a problem on his hands, Paddy’s language was bleeped out, but his frustration was clear.

Making a joke he then said: ‘The shaft has collapsed. Story of my life.’

Pulling his destroyed creation out of the oven, he added: ‘No no no, that’s not good. I don’t know what to do.’

But thinking on his feet, Paddy then decides to try and make another batch, because he’s determined to ‘not get stopped by a ginger biscuit’.

It’s not yet clear whether he can pull things back together, but Paddy’s not the only famous face to have been met with some difficulties on the show.

In the past few weeks, other contestants including Gemma and Jesy Nelson each also had their own problems with their bakes.

Not only contending with a toppled creation that fell to the floor, the former Little Mix star was even given some assistance by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith who took pity upon her lack of prowess in the kitchen.

The first three episodes of Celebrity Great British Bake Off are available to stream on All4 now, and the next episode airs on Sunday, April 9 at 7.40pm.
