The New Balance 990 — in its various forms — is the posterchild for easy-going dad sneaker-wearing sophistication. It’s inoffensive, loved by all, and a mainstay in many a sneakerhead’s rotation for good reason, as it is easy to wear and defies trends with its timeless aesthetic. With this in mind, it’s always welcomed when New Balance introduces a new colorway, such as this 990v3 in “Raw Amethyst/Team Orange.”
As per usual, the 990v3 is made using a mix of suede and mesh to create a multifaceted, layered upper. From the gray perforated suede sitting atop the navy mesh base to the “Raw Amethyst” suede that wraps around from the toe to the mid-panel and heel, New Balance’s latest colorway is one for the minimal summer month looks. Pops of “Team Orange,” highlighting the “N” emblem on the mids and the 990v3 branding on the lateral rear-quarter, as well as brightening up the tongue and heel branding, adds vibrancy to the muted pair.
To complete the look, New Balance fits its ENCAP-equipped sole unit to the pair using a clean colorway of cream, gray and black. New Balance’s 990v3 “Raw Amethyst/Team Orange” can be seen above and bought from Asphalt Gold in sizes for all the family on July 15.
