For New Balance, the 2002R continues to prove its versatility. The popular runner has seen itself outfitted in an always expanding list of approaches. In recent months, this has included collaborations, deconstructed “Protection Pack” colorways and a wide range of traditional color palettes. Adding to these options, pre-worn, GORE-TEX equipped presentations of the 2002R have started to pop up.
In New Balance’s latest take on the 2002R, it revisits the trendy pre-worn theme with aged detailing from the layers of the upper all the way to the rubber outsole. Its mixed material upper starts with a navy mesh base with small copper brown leather overlays combining with washed out green overlays occupying a majority of the upper. GORE-TEX branding arrives at the mudguard, somewhat obscured by the aging effects. Richer greens appear at the ABZORB-infused midsole while navy can be spotted at the outsole to complete the colorway.
Release information for the New Balance 2002R “Magnet” has not yet been disclosed. Expect it to hit shelves in the coming weeks via select retailers and New Balance at a price of $180 USD.
For more in the world of footwear, the New Balance 990v6 is finally seeing its initial launch later this week, debuting in a simple gray colorway.
