Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie and Toni Collette are reportedly joining Robert Pattinson in the ensemble cast of Bong Joon-ho‘s next Warner Bros. film.
According to sources, the upcoming movie will be based on Edward Ashton’s recently-released novel Mickey7, which follows the story of an Expendable named Mickey7, “a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous—even suicidal—the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal…and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.”
The untitled film will be Bong’s followup to his 2019’s Parasite, and will see him write, direct and produce for his company Offscreen. Kate Street Picture Company’s Dooho Choi and Plan B’s — owned by Brad Pitt — Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will also produce; this marks Plan B and Bong’s second collaborative effort after 2017’s Okja. It will also be the filmmaker’s second project with Warner Bros. Discovery following the Parasite limited series, which is currently in the works.
Stay tuned for an official trailer and release date.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Margot Robbie will star in an Ocean’s Eleven prequel.
