Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have reportedly named their second son Riot Rose, after welcoming him into the world last month.
According to The Blast the baby, a sibling for 15-month-old RZA, was born at Los Angeles’ Cedars Sinai Hospital at 7.41am on 1 August, two days before it was previously reported he had made his way into the world.
Speculation has suggested his unusual name is derived from a track released by his dad – real name Rakim Myers – and Pharrell Williams earlier this year.
As the pair settle into life as a family of four, let’s take a look at their life away from the spotlight…
How long have Rihanna and ASAP Rocky been together?
While the pair have known each other since 2012, it wasn’t until 2020 that romantic rumours spread, with the pair being spotted together at various occasions thoughout the year.
However it wasn’t until November 2020 that A$AP Rocky confirmed they were an item, referring to Rihanna in a GQ interview as ‘the one’ and ‘my lady’.
They went red carpet official at the Met Gala in September 2021, as the pair appeared to be wearing equally cosy duvets.
Since then, it’s been an absolute whirlwind for the power couple with Rihanna giving birth to their first baby in May 2022 – although it was a year before the pair confirmed they had named their son Rza after the Wu-Tang Clan rapper of the same name, one of Rihanna and A$AP’s favourite groups.
Inside Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s life
Rihanna often shares glimpses of mum life on Instagram, posting pics and videos of Rza for her 152 million followers.
One cute video saw him not wanting to leave her side when she attempted to exercise, with the Umbrella hitmaker saying: ‘Look who don’t want mommy to workout 🤷🏿♀️’, before he became distracted by the TV’.
Meanwhile, social media footage of the toddler’s first birthday party earlier this year revealed that he had an enormous cash-shaped birthday cake to celebrate turning one.
A$AP Rocky revealed his son’s name around that time, sharing a bunch of fun-filled family photos as he said on Instagram:‘WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN . RZA.’
He later paid touching tribute to Rihanna and Rza on Father’s Day, posting a string of pictures and clips from his life as a dad captioned ‘EVERYDAY FATHERS DAY ❤️.’
Among them was a clip of him and Rihanna chilling and laughing in the bathroom, with the Rude Boy star gently twerking on command before Rocky joked he was also growing a matching bump.
He also shared a glimpse of Fenty founder Rihanna lying in bed giving their son a cuddle.
In the comments she responded to his post: ‘The Mayers boys stole my whole heart! Happy Father’s Day nerd.’
What has Rihanna said about motherhood?
Rihanna has spoken out about parenthood on a number of occasions, opening up late last year about her and A$AP Rocky’s decision to keep their son private for the first few months of his life.
Speaking ahead of her Savage x Fenty fashion show airing on Amazon Prime last November, she explained: ‘We just didn’t get around to it yet, really. We’ve just been living.
‘But I guess there’s a certain freedom that comes with kind of just like getting it out there.’
It has also been claimed that the singer feels her family is ‘complete’ now her second child is here – while she herself describes motherhoos as ‘legendary’.
Reflecting on her first months as a first time mother, Rihanna previously told British Vogue magazine: ‘Oh, my God, it’s legendary. It’s everything. You really don’t remember life before, that’s the craziest thing ever.
‘You literally try to remember it — and there are photos of my life before — but the feeling, the desires, the things that you enjoy, everything, you just don’t identify with it because you don’t even allow yourself mentally to get that far, because… because it doesn’t matter.’
