Eddie Izzard has vowed she’s not going to give up on her fight to become an MP, especially after ‘liar’ Boris Johnson was a Prime Minister.

The comedian launched her campaign to become the Labour MP for Sheffield Central in October last year, saying at the time that she’s ‘taking the fight to the Tories’.

And she’s now promised to keep ‘pushing’.

Appearing on Lorraine on Thursday, the 61-year-old said: ‘I’m going into politics, I’m going to push and push and push until I become an MP.

‘If Boris Johnson lied and lied and lied and lied, and got all the way up to Prime Minister.’

She added: ‘Enough lies! That’s 5,721, so I don’t know why we should believe him now after yesterday’s thing.

‘But yeah, I’m just going to carry on, because coming out was truthful.

‘I was telling the truth about 38 years ago when I said this is me, and this is what’s inside me.

‘It’s difficult to be a politician and live a good and positive life, I’ve tried, if people track back through my life, I’ve tried to be good and positive.’

Eddie’s comments come after Johnson lost his temper during a grilling over his Partygate scandal, saying: ‘people who say that we were partying in lockdown simply do not know what they are talking about’.

He previously admitted misleading MPs, but said he ‘didn’t mean to’, and is now battling to save his political career.

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1.
