For the Spring/Summer 2023 season, Dries Van Noten has turned out a capsule collection of denim pieces for men and women. The line, largely defined by a signature, artisanal dyeing technique, includes shirting, jeans, shorts, skirts and outerwear.
Merging Dries Van Noten’s intricate craftsmanship with one of the most authentic textiles, the statement-making collection utilizes bleach dipping to achieve its striking appearance. The process, which has evolved over centuries, produces a strong ombre effect, with bold indigo and cerulean blue shades contrasting stark, bleached white. The result is an elevated range of workwear, featuring classic touches of Dries Van Noten’s artistic taste.
Dries Van Noten first used a bleach dipping technique in its Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection, as a means to dissect how Belgian painter Jef Verheyen’s works manipulated light. According to collection notes, this season’s design aesthetic was inspired by the late artist’s organic gradations of tones. It’s a continuation of what the brand began in 2011, under a contemporary lens.
The collection launches on April 19 in Dries Van Noten stores, on the brand’s website and in select retailers. Peruse the label’s latest denim pieces in the gallery above.
