Founded in 1976 by art school drop-outs Paul Simonon, Mick Jones and Joe Strummer, The Clash is a defining group in British rock culture. As a critical player in the UK punk rock scene, the band climbed to fame with its namesake album debut, followed by five studio albums which landed them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. Several members came and went throughout its establishment, while its hiatus in the mid-’80s marked The Clash as one of the greatest bands in British history.

Their rebellious attitude was often accompanied by a trusty pair of Dr. Martens, acting as their uniform alongside embellished motorcycle jackets and zippered trousers.

Now, the footwear artisan pays homage to the iconic rock group with a tribute Made in England footwear collection enriched with honorary detailing. Arriving in two styles, Dr. Martens’ 1460 8-eye boot and 1461 3-eye shoe have been fashioned in both glossy Arcadia leather and a smooth black base. The former is equipped with rub-away uppers, revealing “Cherry Red” and deep green underlayers that symbolize The Clash’s Sandinista! and self-titled record artwork. In contrast, the silhouettes are also designed with a simplistic black matte leather finish. Additionally, all pairs see The Clash branding stamped on the heel, accompanied by a set of dog tags and an assortment of seven lace options.

The Dr. Martens x The Clash footwear collection will be available on October 6 via Dr. Martens’ website.
