As the dust settles from the happenings of UFC 264, Conor McGregor‘s coach John Kavanagh has now revealed why “The Notorious” suffered a broken leg that brought his fight with Dustin Poirier to a disappointing doctor stoppage.
Speaking to UFC on ESPN Analyst and Reporter Laura Sanko, Coach Kavanagh noted that Conor McGregor had suffered an injury during his training camp for the trilogy fight. Despite keeping exactly how the injury occurred, Kavanagh noted that McGregor’s left leg was definitely compromised which was confirmed by a medical scan, opting to nurse the hairline fracture to try and stay healthy.
A recent The Joe Rogan Experience episode saw UFC commentator Joe Rogan further breakdown the leg break showing moments in the fight where Conor McGregor’s leg was further damaged. From the breakdown, it looks as though McGregor threw a kick to the thigh of Poirier then a front kick that hit the elbow which caused his shin to buckle before the inevitable snap of his tibia.
