Legacy brand Banana Republic has become synonymous with elevating everyday and special occasion wear since 1978. Now, the brand is expanding its territory with a new “BR Athletics” collection and has tapped Micaiah Carter to lens the campaign.

BR’s new athletic collection highlights heritage dressing in a new and upbeat way and includes a reimagined take on the brand’s “Club” blazer and “Cricket” sweater. At the same time, varsity patches, gold buttons, bold stripes, and colors help round out the collection. To emphasize the gender-inclusive and retro-inspired launch, BR cast up-and-coming New York creatives Koi King (a multidisciplinary artist and musician), Caviēr (a multi-media artist, photographer, painter, and musician), painter Leon Xu, and Dido Rich (an aspiring dancer and writer).

Carter – an acclaimed fashion photographer who captured the originality and authenticity of each featured talent in Brooklyn, NY – says, “My aesthetic is authentic and uplifting. I want people to be shown in their best light, but I also want to come from another perspective not really seen. I think that energy came across in the BR Athletics photo shoot.”

“I love being able to collaborate with other artists and to give them a platform where their personal style can come out and they can feel seen,” he added.

The new BR Athletics capsule collection is available now and can be explored via the brand’s website.

In case you missed it, Levi’s and Come Tees joined forces on a new punk-inspired jeans collection.
