London-based label AFFXWRKS is continuing to expand its mainline of technically-focused workwear offerings with a new collection for Fall/Winter 2023.
Titled “Major Force,” the new collection from AFFXWRKS — with the brand founded in 2016 by former Mackintosh designer, Taro Ray — consists of a range of heavy-duty outerwear pieces, complemented with large pockets and durable fabrications.
As a whole, the collection takes inspiration from the Tokyo-based collective and record label, Major Force, founded by Masayuki Kudo, Toshio Nakanishi, Takagi Kan, Gota Yashiki, and Hiroshi Fujiwara. The label was responsible for pioneering a sound that would become a foundation for dance music and early hip-hop during the 1980s in Japan.
With this in mind, the group embraced a deconstructed approach towards its productions, experimenting by mixing musical styles ranging from dub and muzak through ambient all the way to film scores.
This experimental ethos has been encapsulated in AFFXWRKS’ latest collection, introducing a line of garments that lean into ashy color schemes with minimal branding. Co-ords are seen throughout the capsule, with a highlight coming in the form of a soft zip-up design hit with raised stitched detailing along the side of the jogging bottom legs and the hoodie’s midriff.
AFFXWRKS rounds off its collection with new carpenter-styled jeans, whilst vintage-wash T-shirts are partnered with quarter-zip jumpers, oversized hoodies, and denim jackets.
