Prince Harry has returned to the UK following the death of his grandfather Prince Philip while it is understood his wife Meghan Markle, who is pregnant with their second child, will be unable to attend the funeral due to medical advice. The Duke of Sussex is set to reunite with his brother Prince William to honour the Duke of Edinburgh, as Loose Women panellist Jane Moore hopes the pair can salvage their relationship through their shared grief.
William and Harry are poised to meet for the first time since the Duke of Sussex joined his wife for an explosive interview with US broadcaster Oprah Winfrey.
Loose Women panellist Jane explained in her latest column that she believed this is an opportunity for the siblings to mend their alleged rift.
The ITV host suggested that “cracks” began to form in the sibling’s relationship as they entered adulthood, as she added: “Harry and his wife threw several verbal hand grenades at the Royal Family”.
Writing in her column for The Sun, Jane commented: “Oh to be a fly on the Palace wall now that Harry has landed back in the UK without Meghan by his side.
“Will the brothers take the opportunity to thrash through their issues and get back on track?”
The ITV panellist suggested that once Harry and William are “put in a room” together it won’t take them long to be able to “reconnect and clear up misunderstandings and grievances”.
Jane went on to say that it was “sad” to see two brothers who lost their mother Princess Diana at a young age could be “losing sight of each other”.
She concluded: “Let’s hope that the death of their beloved grandfather gives them cause for reflection and the fly on that wall witnesses a royal rapprochement.”
During Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah, which aired last month, the Duke said that he felt let down by his dad the Prince of Wales and that “there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened” between them.
He added that there was “space” in his relationship with his brother William but added he loved him.
During the two-hour interview, Meghan also explained that questions about their son Archie’s skin colour had been mentioned as she touched on issues of racism.
The Queen issued a statement saying “while some recollections may vary”, the issues would be taken “very seriously”, but dealt with privately as a family.

The Duke of Cambridge also spoke publicly in a rare move saying “we’re very much not a racist family”.
Meanwhile, Prince Philip will be buried at St George’s Chapel over the weekend.
Her Majesty will be isolated at the small funeral in Windsor on Saturday as the Duke of Edinburgh is laid to rest.
Funerals can be attended by a maximum of 30 people due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Mourners coming from outside England are required to self-isolate from arrival and for the first full 10 days after they arrive.
Jane recently recalled a time when she met Prince Philip during a reception at Buckingham Palace.
“He comes along and he has got these really gimlet eyes, really piercing, and you know he doesn’t suffer fools gladly,” Jane remarked.
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
