Shirley Ballas Says Ellie Leach Isn’t Leaving Without The Trophy

Strictly Come Dancing finalists Layton Williams and Bobby Brazier put on equally incredible performances but the two show contestants were unable to knock Ellie Leach off of the top spot due to an undisclosed reason, according to the expert.

Darren Stanton suggested neither Layton or Bobby showed any signs of jealousy towards their BBC co-star but “genuine happiness”, however, the body language expert suggested the EastEnders actor, in particular, “was wiped out” during the final, saying this could have potentially held Bobby back.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Roulette, he explained: “Bobby appeared completely wiped out towards the end stages of the competition. Dianne was really tired as well. I always tipped that they would make it close to the final, however there was just something stopping them from knocking Ellie and Vito off the top spot.

“Everyone has their own levels of what they can do, and I think exhaustion played a big part for Bobby and Dianne. I think the exhaustion aspect took over for them.”

He added: “Despite appearing tired in the final, they still seemed really right, with lots of tactile and kinesthetic moments. In terms of Layton and Bobby’s reaction to Ellie winning, there were no signs of jealousy or contempt. They displayed genuine happiness for Ellie in terms of their body language.”

Darren also claimed that while Layton was a strong show contestant he had reached his limits in the BBC final.

“Layton and Nikita showed a strong connection during the final, but they weren’t as strong as Ellie and Vito,” he explained. “While their rapport and chemistry was at an all-time high for them, it wasn’t on par with Ellie and Vito, which is ultimately why they won.”

He added: “They were still tight and consistent. The pair performed to the best of their ability and the positive signs were there, such as being tactile, giving reassuring looks and eye contact. However, I can’t help but think that they reached their limits in the final.”

During Saturday’s show, the three finalists each performed three routines with their professional partners.

But it was Ellie who received the lowest scores as the show underdog as she ranked at the bottom of the leaderboard after the judges gave out their scores.

Ellie was, however, earmarked as a Strictly favourite to win the competition according to bookmakers, and was later crowned show champion.
