Joseph Siravo has sadly died following a long battle with colon cancer, BBC reports.

The actor was 66 and his daughter Allegra Okarmus confirmed his passing in a since-deleted Instagram.

It said that she was “by his side when my dear father passed away this morning, peacefully, in his beloved Treehouse. We are both so lucky to be so intensely loved. I am so immensely grateful to have had him here on earth and I know that he hasn’t gone very far.”

He is most recognizable as Johnny “Johnny Boy” Soprano from HBO’s The Sopranos. Johnny Boy was the father of Tony Soprano and he appeared in flashback and dream sequences in five episodes.

Joseph‘s Sopranos co-star Garry Pastore wrote a tribute to his friend on Instagram, saying, “RIP my dear friend, who fought an incredible fight. I will miss you. See you on the other side.”

Also a Broadway star, Joseph had nearly 2,000 performances in Jersey Boys, and more recently, made appearances in 2016′s The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story, and also appeared in The Report film.
