Sam Thompson has revealed he wasn’t allowed to keep a memento from his time in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle. The star made the candid confession on Monday’s episode of This Morning.

Appearing alongside Strictly Come Dancing winner Ellie Leach and professional partner Vito Coppola, Sam, 31, chatted reality TV success with hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle. Speaking about taking a souvenir home from the Australian jungle, the Made In Chelsea star said: “I didn’t get to keep anything! They wouldn’t let me keep anything!”

The King of the Jungle also admitted that he walked away and left his flower crown and victor’s staff Down Under, too. He explained: “I had to give the sceptre back.”

He added that he “really wanted to bring it through airport security” before doubling down that he left the ITV show empty-handed. In comparison, former Coronation Street actor Ellie, 22, sat proudly on the This Morning sofa holding the BBC Strictly Glitterball Trophy.

On Monday, it was also revealed that Sam almost quit I’m A Celeb on day one after he suffered from a panic attack. Opening up about the ordeal with ex-Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks, he said: “On the first day, when we go in, I had a panic attack.

“I went in really guns blazing, I was so excited, I was like, ‘Wahey everyone is here’ like energy through the roof and then suddenly it hit me what we were doing.

“I literally sat on my own and was like, ‘Oh My God’, my heart was going really quick and I was sweating and I really wanted to be sick.

“I thought either I’m really ill and I’m going to have to see the medic on day one, and I’m going to have to be like, ‘You might have to pull me out’.”

Luckily, after spending a “bit of time” acclimatising to the jungle, Sam admitted to Pete, 35, that he “forgot” he was on a TV show.

He took to the pair’s Staying Relevant podcast and said: “I was so overwhelmed with the whole experience, it’s a really weird experience when you first get in there, but then everyone was so nice so you then just forget you’re on a TV show.”
