Comedian Ricky Gervais, 61, couldn’t resist poking fun at his partner Jane Fallon, 62, as he tweeted a picture of their cat, Pickle, staring down into the camera while the author could be seen sleeping in the background.

He wrote: “After a long day of being Britain’s hardest working and most successful global comedy megastar, it’s great to come home to these two, doing f*** all as usual.

His 15.1 million followers were quick to retweet and reply with comments such as: “What a beauty!” with another adding: “It’s because it’s exhausting being fabulous!”

Many followers also left pictures of their own cats, with some being a doppelganger to Ricky’s feline.

Ricky and Jane, who often tease each other on social media, regularly post images of their pet, with the latter often documenting their shared love of animals on her Twitter page.

Earlier this month, Ricky posted a photo with Pickle to discuss a more serious issue.

He shared: “Thanks for always supporting the animal welfare stuff I bother you with.

“I know it sometimes seems like a hopeless cause but I assure you it really makes a difference.”

He also posted an animated GIF on April 11 to celebrate International Pet Day: “Without this little fur bag, I’d have to destroy the stair carpet, the sofa and the antique chairs myself.”

It’s not the first time the After Life writer has poked fun at his cat as well as his author and tv producer partner, whom he met in 1982.

Ricky resumed his “Jane and all her friends” series with photos taken of the back of Jane walking in the streets of Zurich.

Jane replied with an orange heart emoji.

The couple had just returned from the Swiss capital, where Ricky completed a successful show as part of the Armageddon tour, and Jane held a book signing.

The college sweethearts have been together for over four decades but are not rushing to get married anytime soon.

The comedian spoke on The Late Show With David Letterman in 2014: “I don’t think there’s any point to us getting married.

“We don’t want any more toasters; we never want our families to meet; that would be terrible.”

Instead, the comedian keeps busy with his work and recently announced that the sold-out tour would appear on demand: “Loads of people who couldn’t get tickets asking me if #Armageddon will be on Netflix.

“The answer is Yes! I will continue touring it throughout 2023 and then it will stream on Netflix around the world in 2024.”

The Office UK writer hadn’t been on tour since 2019 and is now making up for it with new tour dates and locations being released regularly.

Ricky also shared an update with fans earlier this week about a new project he was working on at Soho Square Studios.

He commented: “Working on a new children’s animation series. Bet they cut out all the swearing.”
