Ranvir Singh is set to front ITV breakfast show Lorraine for two weeks this summer. The 43-year-old GMB star will stand in for regular presenter Lorraine Kelly from Monday 19th to Friday 30th July.

“It’s such a privilege to do the show because I’m a massive fan of Lorraine, obviously,” Ranvir said following the announcement.

And now, she has shared Lorraine’s reaction to her appointment.

“She’s so supportive and wonderful. So to be sitting in her seat is just such a lovely moment,” the TV star said.

“I started doing it before Christmas, I feel so at home there and the team is amazing.”

Ranvir first stepped in for the 61-year-old presenter in December following her successful stint on Strictly Come Dancing.

Since then, she has also fronted lunchtime panel show Loose Women, in addition to her regular appearances on Good Morning Britain.

The mum-of-one has been the political editor on the breakfast show since 2014.

“What I love about doing the show is, because I’m so used to doing such a lot of hard news and politics – and of course Lorraine covers all of the hard stories as well – but it’s a chance for a lighter touch,” she said of her stint on the show.

Ranvir said that interviewing Boy George was one of her top moments on the programme so far.

She also recalled a moment on the live TV show when things went horribly wrong.

“One of the funniest things ever was when we had Joel Dommett on for The Masked Singer and he didn’t answer his phone, so I said it on air and then Andi Peters found his number, rang him on air and then he just turned up on his Zoom completely topless!

“And that’s the joy of live TV – it’s that spontaneity, that fun and that jeopardy. Anything can really happen, that’s what I love about it actually,” she added.

The former Strictly star said the programme offered her a bit more freedom to to chat to her guests in more depth.

Where GMB is dictated by the news, Lorraine follows a more human interest angle, which she loves, Ranvir said.

Luckily for the presenter, the later time slot also means she gets an extra hour in bed, which is not to be sniffed at.

As of Monday, the ITV star will be setting her alarm for 5am in order to be ready for her stint on TV.

Earlier this month, Ranvir fronted Loose Women, a TV role that did not require an early morning wake-up call.

She posted a picture with her co-stars online and snapped a selfie in the studio with her very own personalised mug.

“They’ve only gone and given me my own mug.

“See you @loosewomen at 1230pm!” she captioned her social media snap, which she posted in view of her 113,000 Instagram followers.

Lorraine is on weekdays from 9am on ITV and ITV Hub.
