Anneka Rice, 62, “shed a tear” after the former Treasure Hunt presenter revealed she watched an emotional episode of the BBC’s Repair Shop. The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant confessed the sentimental moment had her pining for “who she lost”.

Anneka reached out to The Repair Shop castmates Julie Tatchell and Amanda Middleditch, who are affectionately known as the Bear Ladies, on social media.

The Welsh-born radio and TV presenter shared her heartbreak as she penned a sweet message.

Anneka thanked the teddy bear restorers as she revealed she had made a “spooky” discovery.

In view of her 40,700 followers, Anneka wrote: “Last week I shed a tear for the teddy you saved.

“He made me pine for mine, who I lost about 40 yErs ago. THEN at the weekend my sister brought a crate down from her loft randomly & there he was. Joyously spooky! He must be 60. I am ridiculously happy…”(sic)

She accompanied the tweet with a snap of her treasured childhood companion which appeared to still be in good condition.

The teddy bear showed very minor signs of wear with some fraying on the paws of his feet and a small hole in the knitted jumper that the bear wore.

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as social media users shared their own snaps of their beloved teddy bears.

One penned: “That is an excellent bear!”

To which Anneka replied: “Isn’t he perfect!”

Another commented: “They do hold a special place in your heart. So happy you found him he is adorable.”

A third remarked: “He looks in quite a good condition, but I’m sure he could look even better if he found himself in the repair shop. Hope something can be arranged, unless you love him exactly as he is.”

“My teddy is 65 and apart from stuffing coming out of paws is still loved. He sits on the spare bed,” a fourth commented.

Anneka’s heartwarming post comes after a recent episode of The Repair Shop where guests Harry and his mum Nicki brought in their teddy bear named George.

Harry explained that George had been with him for 26 years and admitted he didn’t know what he would have done without him while undergoing a gender transition.

He added: “He’s been there while I’m going through some big and scary changes.”

Anneka is known for her role on Channel 4’s Treasure Hunt after she landed her first TV job in 1982.

The show proved one of Channel 4’s most popular programmes and saw Anneka as the skyrunner looking for clues, which were being solved by two contestants in the studio.

She later came up with the show Challenge Anneka in which she had to solve tasks within a certain time.

This ran from 1989 to 1995 on the BBC.

She has also appeared on Celebrity Mastermind, Hell’s Kitchen and Come Dine With Me and Celebrity Hunted.
