Tom Ellis has welcomed his first child with wife Meaghan Oppenheimer, making him a dad-of-four.

The 44 year old actor, famed for appearing in shows such as Miranda and Lucifer, announced the arrival of his and Meaghan's baby daughter Dolly on Instagram on Friday morning, following her birth on 8 November.

Tom shared a photograph of him and Meaghan, 37, gazing down at their newborn in an incubator at the hospital and revealed she was born via surrogate on Wednesday.

"Our daughter Dolly Ellis-Oppenheimer was born on November 8th and within five hours of being alive, she single-handedly ended the SAG strike. We love her. Huge thank you to our amazing surrogate," he penned with a pink heart emoji.

Fans and fellow celebrities flocked to congratulate the actor, with his Lucifer co-star Rachael Harris writing: "Oh hello Dolly! We have been waiting for you!"

Canadian singer Alex Sampson said: "Congratulations Tom!! This is so beautiful," and Odette Annable penned: "Ohhh congrats!!"

"Oh my goodness, I am so happy for you both!! Congratulations, Tom and Moppy!" a fan said, while a second wrote: "Congratulations! What lovely news. Welcome to the world little one."

New mum Meaghan shared the same announcement on her own Instagram, alongside a snap of Dolly and an adorable photo of Tom holding her on his shoulder.

Tom is now a dad-of-four following Dolly's birth. He shares daughters Florence, 15, and Marnie, 11, with ex-wife Tamzin Outhwaite, and also has a daughter named Nora, 18, from a previous relationship.

He was married to Eastenders star Tamzin, 53, from 2006 until 2014. The pair first met in 2005 through their mutual friend James McAvoy.

Tom and Tamzin divorced after the actor admitted to having had a one-night stand while filming Gothica in the States in 2013, leaving the actress devastated.

She has since hinted that he was unfaithful more than once, saying in an interview in 2016: “I wouldn't not be with my husband over a one-night stand is all I'll say." Tamzin has since moved on with boyfriend Tom Child, who she has been dating for six years.

Tom began dating screenwriter Meaghan in 2015 following his divorce and in 2018 they announced their engagement. The couple married in a lavish ceremony at the Grassini Family Winery in Santa Ynez Valley, California, in 2019.

Tom, who originally hails from Cardiff, appears to now reside in the US with his wife.
