Celebrity medium Sally Morgan believes big things are in store for TV and radio presenter Maya Jama in 2023.
As part of OK! 's annual catch-up with psychic to the stars, Sally reveals to us what she believes the New Year will bring around for some of the biggest names in UK entertainment.
And she predicts the future is already looking bright for Glow Up host Maya, 28, with the brunette beauty having been made the incoming frontwoman of Love Island, set to start in her new role for the winter edition of the dating show in January next year.
"Maya will absolutely smash her presenting job on Love Island," Sally predicted as part of her yearly run-down.
"She’ll win over the audience and will be offered an even bigger presenting role on ITV later in the year because of it."
ITV announced Maya as former Love Island hostess Laura Whitmore's replacement in October this year, and she's currently getting ready to host the new ninth series returns in early 2023.
Maya’s entrance as the new host of Love Island comes after Laurastepped down as presenter, following the series that ended this last summer.
Prior to this, discussion was rife as to who would bag the in-demand role, which was originally held by the late Xtra Factor host Caroline Flack, who fronted the show from series one in 2015 to series five in 2019, later tragically passing away in January 2020.
Speaking of their decision to cast Maya as the show's new presenter, Director of ITV Reality Programming Paul Mortimer said: "Finding a new host to follow the wonderful Laura Whitmore was never going to be easy.
"In Maya Jama though, we have another high profile fan of the show who’ll be a great addition to the Love Island family.
"Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presenting style to the show, as did Laura and, of course, the very much missed Caroline Flack. We’re very pleased to have her on board."
Following the exciting announcement, Maya – who previously worked with BBC Radio 1 to present the channel's Greatest Hits segment – told her fans: "I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows!
"I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders."
She later posted a video with Love Island on Instagram as she confirmed "the rumours are true", before adding: "Seeeee you on the island honeysssss" on Instagram Stories.
Former host Laura sent her congratulations and well wishes to Maya following the announcement, as she commented: “Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab xx”.
“Thank you chick,” Maya wrote back, adding several love heart emojis.
Many viewers had hoped Maya would be next in line to present the ITV2 show, and it seems Love Island bosses were listening all this time.
