Love Island: Aftersun viewers have called for the show’s new VIP bar to be named in honour of Caroline Flack.
Caroline hosted the ITV2 dating show from 2015 to 2019. She stepped down as host in December 2019 after she was charged with assaulting her then-boyfriend Lewis Burton at her home in London.
Current host – and Caroline’s friend – Laura Whitmore then took over hosting duties for the winter version of the show, which aired in January 2020 and took place in South Africa.
Caroline tragically passed away at her home in February 2020 at the age of 40.
And following the star’s death, fans of Love Island think Aftersun’s new VIP bar should be named in tribute to her.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “VIP bar name: Flack’s Shack #LoveIsland #Aftersun #LoveIslandAftersun”.
Viewers loved the idea, with one writing: “#LoveIslandAftersun What a way to pay respect to our beaut Caroline @whitmore”.
A second agree, saying: “@LoveIsland @thewhitmore @IainDoesJokes this has to happen, if her family approve #LoveIslandAftersun”.
A third wrote: “Aww, love the bar xxx”.
During Aftersun’s first episode Laura called on the viewers to help them name the new bar.
She said: “Here at Aftersun, we have our VIP bar you can get into. We want your help naming our shiny new bar.
“Something like ‘The Fire Pit’ or ‘The Broken Eagle’ or does that mean something else?” added Laura in reference to Paige Thorne’s favourite sex position.
Laura, 37, continued: "Maybe if you guys at home have any better suggestions for a name let me know using #Aftersun. The best name will go above the bar, that’s pretty cool isn’t it?”
Former Islanders Kaz Kamwi and Liberty Poole could be seen enjoying a drink at the new establishment, along with Love Island superfan Sam Thompson and actress Donna Preston.
Laura was also joined by Islander Liam Llewellyn, 22, who left the villa earlier in the week after admitting he didn’t feel like he was “being himself”.
And in his first exit since leaving the villa, Liam confessed his shock that Gemma’s dad is former footballer Michael Owen.
The star, who is from Newport, said: “I was buzzing when I coupled up with Gemma. I got the feeling her head was elsewhere. I can't believe who her dad was. I can't believe I didn't work it out.”
He also revealed he was shocked that the power was in the hands of the public this year for the first coupling, but admitted he would have chosen Gemma regardless.
“I was stood there looking at all the girls and I was looking at Gemma hoping they would pick her. I was hoping it was Gemma.”
But he said he had a “gut feeling” Gemma was going to couple up with Italian stallion David Sanclimenti from the moment he walked in.

“100% I thought he was going to go for Gemma, the minute he walked in I had a gut feeling,” he added.
