A body language expert has suggested Kate Middleton is more confident and comfortable with the general public than her husband Prince William.

Darren Stanton made the comment after analysing the royal couple's body language and stated that he had learnt a great deal about how the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, conducts herself in public engagements.

His latest opportunity to analyse their body language came when the Cambridges unveiled a new royal portrait, painted by award-winning British artist Jamie Coreth in June.

After the painting was revealed the couple were seen mingling with the public and Darren has suggested that Kate was "far more relaxed" than William, 40.

Speaking on behalf of gaming company Slingo, he told Woman and Home: "Kate appears to be the more confident one out of herself and William when interacting with people and we see a genuine sense of happiness from her – this wasn’t as present during the unveiling, denoting that some of the gestures shown at that event were more of a formality.

"Sometimes William is more reticent than Kate, and he is always cognizant of the fact he is a future king and even though he’s willing to relax more than other senior royals when it comes to protocol.

"As he wants to be a much more relaxed monarch, he is more aware of his behaviour and therefore can hold himself back.

"There’s no denying, however, the joy that William gets out of connecting with members of the public and it’s clear Kate is always on hand to encourage him to get stuck in."

He continued: "The first significant thing that strikes me about Kate during the portrait unveiling is the colour she has chose to wear. Her go-to power colours are blue and red, but here she’s chosen a softer, purple shade."

"William was, of course, in his trademark suit again, but you’ll notice he was not wearing a tie. Like Kate, this more informal and casual look signifies his willingness to appear approachable and connect with others."

It comes after Kate made a broody confession as she was photographed cuddling an adorable baby girl during a recent visit to Newmarket racecourse with her husband.

Onlookers who attended the event, suggested that the future king suddenly began to get very twitchy as his wife beamed and cooed over the enchanting youngster, who has since been revealed to be four month old Norah Provoost.

The little girl, who was dressed in a pink and white dress for the occasion had travelled over from the Netherlands along with her mother Marianne Provoost to attend the event, reports the Mirror.

A video of the moment was captured by one eagle-eyed fan, and showed the royal smiling at and chatting with the baby, before telling her mother: "I love babies."
