There is exciting news for JK Rowling as it is reported that her eldest daughter Jessica Rowling Avantes is recently engaged.

According to The Daily Mail, smitten Jessica, 27, who is the daughter of billionaire author Rowling and her first husband, former television journalist Jorge Arante, is said to be set to walk down the aisle after accepting a proposal from her other half Ronny Dias.

The publication also states that the famous Harry Potter author is hoping to keep details of the engagement as well as the wedding planning under wraps.

OK! Online has contacted a representative for JK Rowling for further comment.

Rowling split from Jessica's father in 1993 when she was just a few months old after first meeting him when she moved to Portugal.

Speaking previously to The Times about the ill-fated romance, she said: "Obviously, you do not leave a marriage after that very short period of time unless there are serious problems.

"I'm not the kind of person who bales out without there being serious problems.

"My relationship before that lasted seven years. I'm a long-term girl. And I had a baby with this man. But it didn't work. And it was clear to me that it was time to go, and so I went."

Rowling has also been candid about her life as a single mother and struggling author before she hit the big time.

The star previously recalled instances of her working on her Harry Potter novel in several Edinburgh coffee shops with little Jessica sleeping nearby in her pram.

She went on to see incredible success with her first book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was published in 1997.

Going on to release six more books, the series also spawned a successful movie empire starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

The writer, who has two other children, David, 18 and Mackenzie, 16, with second husband Neil Murray, was previously criticised for her comments on gender identity.

Rowling voiced her anti-trans opinions on social media, forcing Harry Potter star Daniel to apologise for her words.

"Transgender women are women," he said in a statement.
