The Barefoot Contessa has a menu for every occasion and the new year is no different. Start off 2022 with Ina Garten’s weekend breakfast menu featuring homemade muffins, hearty egg dishes, and, of course, one of the celebrity chef’s popular cocktails.

Ina Garten’s breakfast menu has 2 savory options

Garten’s weekend breakfast menu has something for everyone starting with eggs. The Barefoot Contessa host serves up not one but two savory egg dishes.

First is eggs benedict. Garten makes it a “How easy is that?” moment using her simple method for poaching eggs. Hint: It doesn’t include any vinegar or swirling. She also puts her own Barefoot Contessa spin on hollandaise sauce. Garten’s trick to hollandaise is to make it in a blender.

As for the second of Garten’s savory egg dishes she also has Roast Beef Hash and Eggs on the menu. It takes some time to make — 45 minutes by Food Network’s estimation — but like most Barefoot Contessa recipes it’s a simple process.

Garten makes the hash while potatoes cook. Next, she cooks eggs. Finally, she assembles everything and it’s ready to serve.

The Ultimate Bloody Mary is Ina Garten’s weekend breakfast cocktail of choice

Featured on the “Weekend Breakfast” episode of Barefoot Contessa, the Food Network star serves up one of her classic cocktail recipes, bloody marys. But not just any tomato-vodka mixture. Garten whips up a batch of her Ultimate Bloody Marys.

Compared to a standard bloody mary this particular version has the volume turned up. Garten’s weekend breakfast cocktail of choice includes tomato and clam juice as well as shrimp for garnish.

Ina Garten’s breakfast menu continues with Strawberry Muffins

Fresh-baked muffins for a weekend breakfast? It might seem difficult but, as always, Garten makes it look easy. “The nice thing about muffins is you don’t have to make them in a mixer or a food processor. Just a big bowl, that’s all you need,” Garten said on The Barefoot Contessa.

Use an ice cream scoop, Garten’s secret for professional-looking muffins, to create muffins that are all the same size. Lastly, a few tips on making muffins from the cookbook author. “The less you mix them the better they are,” she warned Barefoot Contessa viewers. Also, there’s a reason the recipe says to add the sugar last. Doing so, according to Garten, gives the muffins a nice crunch.

The Barefoot Contessa’s weekend breakfast menu includes make-ahead French toast

Garten has an entire cookbook of make-ahead recipes so it’s not much of a surprise her weekend breakfast menu includes a dish that can be made in advance. Her make-ahead dish of choice? Raspberry Baked French Toast.

Garten uses day-old bread, a key element of the dish, and combines it with custard. Then she leaves the mixture in the fridge so the bread can soak up the liquid. The next time, before it’s time for breakfast, she bakes the French toast. Once again, a “How easy is that?” moment from the Barefoot Contessa.
