This Morning viewers were left disappointed as Holly Willoughby confirmed she will not be returning to the show this week. She updated her fans in an Instagram post as she teased she was “working on something else”.

The presenter shared a rare image of her with son Chester in the garden as she posted the update.

Holly penned to her 7.1 million followers: “Vitamin d, caffeine and a side order of distraction from Chester…

“Working on something else next week which I can’t wait to share with you all….”

The star then confirmed who will be replacing her on the This Morning sofa this week.

She continued: “Thank you to the lovely @rochellehumes for keeping my side of the sofa warm… x.”

In response to her post, Rochelle then replied: “Got you.”

The presenter did not confirm exactly what she’ll be working on next, leaving many fans eager for hints.

One replied: “Any hints on what it is.”

Another added: “Happy Sunday Holly.. Oh looking forward to the news.”

Others speculated she could be filming a part on Midsomer Murders after she was offered a role on air.

Back in March, the stars of the show Neil Dudgeon and Nick Hendrix asked if she would like a part in an upcoming episode.

Holly was excited when she replied: “That’s amazing!”

“Yes! Of course, I say yes. I have seen every single episode since it started way back when. Are you serious?”

As well as some speculating about what she’s up to, other viewers also voiced their sadness at her not being on This Morning for the third week in a row.

In response, a viewer wrote: “So no This Morning for you this week either?”

A second added, “I’ll miss you” while a third penned: “Oh. Not back next week. Aahhh.”

Holly last appeared on This Morning three weeks ago before she and Phillip Schofield went off for their usual Easter break.

Since then, they’ve been replaced by both Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford as well as Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Now presenter Rochelle will be filling her shoes alongside Phillip.

Holly is expected to return to presenting duties on the daytime show after this.

This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV.
