Countryfile presenter Helen Skelton has reportedly been struggling with “some unexpected feelings” as she begins to move on after her devastating split from Richie Myler.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant, 40, is “dipping her toe back into the dating scene” but has been “feeling guilty” and concerned about being “judged”, according to reports.

A source said: “Helen’s family and friends encouraged her to get back out there and she was happy to dip her toe back into the dating scene, but she has had some wobbles and found herself feeling guilty.

“She’s concerned about who to let into her life and worried about being judged for any decisions she makes.

“There have also been some people who have made comments about her not trying hard enough to make it work with Richie, and it’s made her think about her marriage and what went wrong,” they added to Closer.

The source also claimed that Helen “tried everything she could” to save her marriage to the Leeds Rhinos player. However, “once the trust was broken there was just no going back” and “dating again has brought up some unexpected feelings that she’s been struggling with”.

It was recently reported that Helen won’t be “closing herself off to anything anymore”, but she is “nowhere near ready for a long-term romance”.

A source told OK! Magazine: “She’s open to new adventures in all respects and is making it her aim to say ‘yes’ to more things that excite her.”

Helen announced their shock split in April last year, just four months after the birth of their third child, Elsie. They also share, Ernie, seven, and Louis, five.

Richie has since welcomed a baby with his new girlfriend Stephanie Thirkill. They are thought to have been in a relationship since May 2022.

Announcing their break-up on Instagram at the time, Helen wrote: “Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple.

“He has left the family home. We will be doing our best to co-parent our small children.”
