Giovanni Pernice has postponed the launch of his brand, but reportedly has “no plans” to step back from Strictly Come Dancing following Amanda Abbington’s exit.

After being absent from week five of the BBC ballroom dancing competition, It Takes Two announced that Amanda, 49, would not be returning to the show.

The actor herself took to Instagram on Tuesday, 24 October, and wrote to her 135,000 followers: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.”

Prior to Amanda’s statement, Giovanni, 33, had posted his own sentiment to his one million Instagram fans, which read: “Amanda .. I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love.”

In the aftermath of the Sherlock star’s exit, Giovanni has made the difficult decision to postpone the launch of his new brand, GP Vita.

A source claimed to the publication: “Giovanni is really disappointed that Amanda’s time on Strictly has come to a premature end. He wanted nothing more than to continue competing with her by his side.

“For Giovanni now, he will still be on the show every Saturday, supporting the rest of the cast.”

The source also claims that fans are doubting whether Giovanni will appear on series 22 of Strictly. However, those conversations are not expected to take place “for months”.

“However, he has no plans to step back from Strictly just yet,” they claimed.

Following the news that the brand would no longer launch on Tuesday, fans flocked to the comments section to wish the professional dancer well during this difficult time.
