Jack Whitehall has discussed some amusing comments reportedly made by famous actress Eva Longoria on food critic Jay Rayner’s Out To Lunch podcast. The 33-year-old claimed the A-lister was completely unaware that Pizza Express was a popular Italian chain restaurant in the UK and found it amusing when she lauded its “incredible” Italian food.

Eva, 46, is said to have made the comments to Jack during their time filming BBC comedy series Decline and Fall in 2016.

The actress was trying to find food that rivalled the quality she is used to when she stumbled across a Cardiff branch of the Pizza Express chain, which she believed to be a quaint “little Italian” restaurant.

According to the actor, Eva went on to tell Jack that up until that point, she could not find a restaurant that was up to Beverly Hills standards, but that she had now eaten the “best pasta” she had ever tasted.

Tweeting a link to the podcast yesterday, Pizza Express wrote: “Listen to this brilliant podcast from ⁦@jayrayner1⁩ and, 30 minutes in, ⁦@jackwhitehall⁩ reveals the name of what Eva Longoria considers one of the best Italian restaurants in the world.

“It’s a small family-run place in Cardiff,” the account added with a winking emoji.

During the interview, Jack recounted the moment Eva reportedly came bursting onto set to share her amazing discovery with her co-stars.

“She said, ‘Oh God, I found the most incredible little Italian last night,” the comedian began.

“The owner, I think it’s family owned, he was so charming and I had the best pasta I have ever had anywhere in the world.

“It’s called… Pizza Express.’”

Eva, who once owned a diner in Los Angeles and who has written cookbooks before, reportedly raved about her “authentic Italian” grub to the star.

Jack went on to add that he thought Eva was “great” but claimed that his American co-star also “didn’t realise Cardiff was in Wales”.

Express.co.uk has contacted Eva Longoria’s representatives for further comment.

The Desperate Housewives actress was previously married to General Hospital star Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2004.
