EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Royal Family want to throw punches at Prince Harry, jokes Mike Tindall

Prince William was visibly angry when he was forced to deny publicly that the Royal Family was racist after Harry and Meghan’s claims in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Now, Mike Tindall has let slip the full extent of the Windsors’ fury. Former England rugby star Tindall — the husband of Harry’s cousin Zara — has joked the royals would like to throw a few punches at the Prince after his recent behaviour.

He made the comments on Monday at A Question Of Sport Live at the London Palladium, where he joined his former England teammate Matt Dawson.

Dawson recalled a boozy night out celebrating England’s 2003 Rugby World Cup win at a bar in Sydney, where they were joined by Harry, who had travelled Down Under.

Three sheets to the wind, Tindall and teammate Iain Balshaw thought it would be amusing to throw a few punches at the Prince, to see how long it would take his protection officers to pin them to the ground (a few seconds, it turned out).

‘At Balmoral, the family are now having the same conversation,’ said Tindall, who added: ‘Except the Queen has taken his security away.’ Harry complained to Oprah about the removal of his royal protection.

Tindall has never mentioned his Sydney ‘assault’ on Harry before. He may have alluded to it last year on a podcast with England star James Haskell. Talking about how he could be depicted in Netflix drama The Crown, Tindall said: ‘That has to be the main incident, if it was there — the full Harry slap.’

Haskell responded: ‘They don’t even know about that. Now you’ve revealed that.’

Petra hedges her bets with new pet

Formula One heiress Petra Ecclestone collects £10,000 Hermes Birkin bags for a hobby, but now she’s managed to find an even more exotic plaything.

Billionaire Bernie Ecclestone’s daughter, 32, has acquired a tiny hedgehog for her Chelsea home. ‘Our baby,’ she coos.

African pygmy hedgehogs are a popular pet, even though the RSPCA advises against keeping them at home, as their needs cannot be met in captivity. MPs recently warned thieves are stealing them from gardens to sell for up to £300 each.

George Osborne’s money-making skills seem to have left his fellow former Chancellors green with envy.

‘I’m jealous of his success since leaving the post,’ Norman Lamont tells me, jokingly. ‘He has done extremely well for himself. Made a lot of money.’ At one point, baronet’s heir Osborne held nine jobs at the same time.

Make mums proud! Iris and Lila party till dawn

Reformed revellers Kate Moss and Sadie Frost were once head girls of the louche Primrose Hill set in the 1990s.

Now, their model daughters, Lila Moss, 19, and Iris Law, 20, are keeping the party spirit alive. At a fashion bash in Milan this week, the childhood friends posed for photos together late into the night.

Iris, whose father is film star Jude Law, has clearly inherited her parents’ flair — she donned a crop top with a pink fur collar.

Dining out is no piece of cake for ultra-slim Victoria Beckham. ‘I’m a very fussy eater,’ she admits to Ruth Rogers on the chef’s new podcast, River Cafe Table 4.

‘I don’t like oils and butters and sauces. To most restaurants, I’m probably the worst nightmare, but you guys are always so accommodating and cook the food exactly how I like it: very simple, very clean, incredibly fresh. I love some steamed vegetables on the side, some balsamic vinegar, and then season it myself.’

The mother-of-four, 47, adds: ‘When I was in the Spice Girls, very quickly I came to the conclusion that unless I adapted to a very healthy way of eating, I would just sit there and eat the entire bread basket. I just decided from that point to eat in a clean way.’

Carrie Johnson’s friendship with Lulu Lytle caused a scandal after she had her pal decorate the PM’s Downing Street flat.

But there’s another interior designer to whom Carrie is even closer. She’s Anna Eleri Hart, and Carrie even helped choose her wedding dress. ‘Carrie is a friend from university,’ says Anna, who wed tour promoter Tim Boardman in Hertfordshire last weekend.

The gown was by one of Carrie’s favourite labels, O Pioneers. Co-founder Tania Hindmarch tells me: ‘We were thrilled, if apprehensive, as we’d never made a wedding dress before.’ Perhaps Anna could give Carrie a discount the next time she wants to spruce up Downing Street . . .

Grad gold for the Cracknell newlyweds

Olympic rowing champion James Cracknell is celebrating yet another milestone with his new wife, Jordan Connell, whom he married last month.

He and the U.S. financier, 35 — who met at Cambridge University as mature students in 2019 — have graduated after Covid delays.

Cracknell, 49, got a master’s in human evolution at Peterhouse, while Jordan was at the business school. ‘Graduation started with me forgetting my robes,’ she says. ‘I jogged to a shop for a rental.’

But it’s not all smiles for Cracknell, who said last week that his ex, presenter Beverley Turner, 47, ‘chipped away at his confidence’ during their 17-year marriage.
