Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan were forced to spend their wedding anniversary apart last week when work commitments took them to opposite sides of the globe.

Eyebrows were raised when Michelle, 34, headed to the airport with several large suitcases a week before the couple’s seventh wedding anniversary on 24 May. Suggestions were circulating that she was flying to Australia to film the upcoming BBC period drama Ten Pound Poms.

Meanwhile, Mark, 35, was on a trip to Croatia, Malta, Italy, Majorca and Portugal, where he shared pictures and videos of himself on social media seeing the sights, eating local cuisine and swimming in a pool – all with his Heart camera crew in tow.

As the couple had to endure yet another anniversary apart – they also celebrated on separate continents when Mark was working in Los Angeles and Michelle was filming Our Girl in South Africa – Mark’s mum was among the commenters wishing the pair well.

Writing under a post Mark had dedicated to his wife, Carol, 61, said, “Happy anniversary to my son and daughter-in-law. Wow, seven years, but I only said today listening to you talking daily whilst you’re far away working in different parts of the world – the love is unreal.

"Yes, I do listen whilst walking past the room when Mark is in conversation, – he talks loud. But you two have an unconditional love that you have survived with having to travel apart.” Carol then mysteriously deleted the post.

According to sources, Mark is hanging out with his family while wife Michelle is away, including his sister Jess who gave birth to a baby boy on
17 May and brother Josh who welcomed a son in February.

“The Wrights are so family oriented,” our source said. “He’s spending a lot more time with his family while Michelle is away.

"It’s a shame as they have spent so much money on their dream home where they wanted to enjoy quality time together, but it seems they haven’t managed that yet – one is always there and the other isn’t.

“Mark is very romantic so he made sure to give Michelle an anniversary gift before she left. They’re always on the phone and on Zoom, but it’s not like being together in the flesh.”

While it is unknown how long Michelle will be away, she did post a message to her husband on their special day.

Sharing a snap from their ceremony on Instagram, she captioned it, “Happy anniversary to my husband, my best friend and my biggest supporter. Love you.” She ended the message with a red heart.

The love note was slightly more effusive than last year’s offering when Michelle shared an Instagram Story, with the caption, “Six years today…
I love you Wrighty.”
