Carol Vorderman, 60, was left unamused by a Twitter user, who has set up a fake account using her famous name to add fans on the micro-blogging site. The Countdown star urged her followers to remain vigilant, as she confirmed that there is only one real account on the platform, which is her verified username @carolvorders.

IT ISN’T ME

She typed: “Morning all. As we all know by now there are many strange and nasty folk out there in Twitter land.

“If you’ve been followed by @carolvorderman2 or indeed any other account claiming to be me, IT ISN’T. @carolvorders is the only account which is valid.

“This is me. All love,” she added.

However, Twitter has now taken action against the catfish account and suspended it.

Fans of Carol expressed their disdain for those online who take on other identities to dupe their followers.

One said: “Urgh why do people do this?”

Another replied: “One Vorders is enough for me! There are some horrible people out there, but a lot of nice ones as well!”

A third commented: “I saw that and saw it was a copy so reported it.”

“Think the account has been removed, but it will not prevent further fake accounts,” replied a fourth.

Carol is hugely popular with fans after her stint as a host on Countdown for 26 years.

After appearing on the game show she joined Loose Women back in 2011, before quitting after just three years.

Carol has since made it clear that she will not be returning anytime soon, after abruptly leaving the programme.

The star shared a poll from a Loose Women fan page on her Instagram story recently, revealing she had voted “no” to going back in the future.

The fan account had uploaded an image of Carol from her time as one of the Loose Women panellists, while the poll asked: “Would you like to see @carolvorders return to the show?”

Carol received a majority of “yes” votes from fans, with 60 per cent of users hoping she would make a comeback.

It appeared the former Countdown host did not feel the same way, as she had promptly hit the “no” button on the poll, and re-shared it to her own social media followers.

Shutting down any speculation over a Loose Women return, she wrote: “I’ve answered that with a big NOOOOOO… I think that should do it.”

Instead, the maths whizz is busy hosting the yearly Pride Of Britain Awards and is now a weekly presenter on BBC Radio Wales.

Her busy schedule means there is little time for romance and, after two failed marriages, Carol is now content with focusing on herself.

In an interview with the Telegraph, she revealed: “My happiness doesn’t depend on being part of a couple. I’m single and, yes, I am dating. Would I marry again? Honestly, I just can’t see it.”
