Britney Spears has opened up about the fact that she is suffering from incurable nerve damage.

The 40 year old, who recently shared that she was "traumatised" by her former conservatorship, told her 41.7 million fans on Instagram that she has nerve damage on the right side of her body and that there’s “no cure” for the condition.

She said: “I wake up like three times a week in bed and my hands are completely numb… nerves are tiny and it feels like pins and needles from the right side of my body it shoots up my neck and the part that hurts the worst is my temple on my head… it stings and it’s scary…”

The pop legend attributed the damage to time she spent in a medical centre in 2019, explaining: “nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain… your brain literally shuts down… in that place I didn’t breathe when I was there…”

Britney went on to say, “the last three years since I got out of that place I’ve been in a mild unconscious state… I couldn’t face it.”

However, the singer said that when she dances she doesn’t “feel the pain,” and that her “mind literally goes to a place of my inner child,” before explaining that her “faith” has helped her cope with her medical condition.

Finishing the post by saying “I’m getting a lot better… I can breathe”, Britney said she’ll “send love” to all of her followers – before saying she was off to vacuum her home!

Whilst she was under the conservatorship of her father Jamie, 70, Britney was admitted to a medical facility in California in 2019 for a month before being released at the end of April that year.

Britney now has full control of her social media accounts and bank account after being freed from her father’s conservatorship in November 2021 after 13 years.

Since then, the 40 year old star has openly criticised the arrangement and has become estranged from her father, mother and sister.

Britney’s also been involved in a public row with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who says that Britney’s conservatorship “saved” the star and said in August 2022 that their two sons had chosen not to see their mother in months.

Neither of her two teenage sons, 17 year old Sean and 16 year old Jayden, chose not to attend her July 2022 wedding to Sam Asghari – but Sean did say he was “happy” for the newlyweds.
