Lewis Capaldi has divided fans after his appearance at The Brit Awards was muted as it was littered with profanities.
The 24 year old Scottish singer-songwriter took to the stage at the glittering music awards ceremony at the O2 Arena on Tuesday 11 May to present the award for Best Album.
After he made his way onto the stage he told the roaring audience to “shut up” before greeting them with: “Hello mother f**kers!”
Lewis went on: “Listen guys… I’m f**king sweating, my b… it’s like a swamp down there I’m telling you – sweaty b****ks. Hello Brit Awards!
“That’s where we are. Sorry, I’m reading off a card here,” he then glanced down at the cue card and read slowly: “How is everyone doing? It’s great to be here tonight.
“It’s just great to be out of the house to be honest,” he said before nodding and taking a bow at the cheering fans.
The singer added: “It’s been a great year for albums, most of all because I haven’t f**king released one. It’s a total honour to present the award for album… Best Album.
“Let’s hope that this coming year is even bigger and better for British music,” he said while raising his arms in the air.
He continued: “And obviously let’s hope that Scotland win at the Euros but…” As some of the audience booed he reacted by standing back and shouting: “I didn’t f**king write it! I’m just doing a job.”
Lewis then introduced the nominees before announcing the winner was Dua Lipa for her album Future Nostalgia.
Much of Lewis’ swear-filled speech was muted for fans at home, but this still left many viewers tickled as they shared their amusement on Twitter.
One wrote: “lewis capaldi was the funniest person at the brits last night istg he should’ve hosted the whole thing instead”.

Another cheered: “the best part of brits yet is only Lewis Capaldi”.
While a third added: “One of the highlights of the #brits2021 #BRITs for me was @LewisCapaldi speech hahaha”.
And a fourth urged: “brits pls ask lewis capaldi to host the brits next year pls the jokes will be better i guarantee.”
But, others weren’t pleased by the amount of expletives as one said: “@BRITs well done for muting the mike on Capaldi. What a foul-mouthed, adolescent little boy. Horrible. It's a privilege to be recognised and win an award for something that you do.”
Another added: “Enjoyed the Brits except for Jack Whitehall reading the autocue with eyes like this [eye emoji] (change of host is now due!) and Lewis Capaldi just being a bit of a #automute”.
While a second wrote: “I just saw a video of Lewis Capaldi at the BRITS last night and still think he is a pain in the a**e and not funny in the slightest”.
